FAQs

What is the estimated time of shipping for my order?
Orders are usually shipped within 2-5 days, subject to item availability, order status, and shipping service selected at checkout. If there are any unanticipated delays, we will inform you in advance.

Can I opt for local pickup if I am nearby and wish to avoid shipping costs?
We offer pickup options during craft fairs and farmers markets where we will be setting up shop, as well as at our home. To arrange a pickup time and location, please reach out to us.

How can I maintain the quality of my candles?
Candles may lose their color or scent when exposed to prolonged periods of bright light, warmth, or humidity. It is recommended not to display your candles in direct sunlight, fluorescent lights, or other strong illumination. Candles soften at temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is best to store them in a cool, dry place.

Is trimming the wick necessary?
Trimming the wick is essential for the safe and long-lasting performance of your candle. When the wick has a carbon mushroom or appears excessively long, it should be trimmed to 1/4" before relighting. Failure to trim the wick can cause excessive smoke, soot, and wick curling.

Why does my candle leave a lot of wax on the sides of the container after burning?
A little hang-up or film is normal, especially at the top and middle of the candle, but excessive hang-up or tunneling (burning a hole down the middle) is best to avoid. Poor quality or cheaply made candles, production errors, and not burning the candle long enough (3-4 hours per burn) can contribute to tunneling. At our company, we use premium ingredients that are thoroughly tested to minimize this problem.

Why do I sometimes get small puffs of smoke coming from my wick and flame?
Improperly trimmed wicks and drafts are the most common causes of puffs of smoke. Drafts from windows, doors, vents, or people walking past the candle can interfere with the flame, causing it to produce smoke. Trimming the wick and placing the candle away from drafts can minimize this issue.

What is the carbon buildup or mushroom bloom head on my wick after burning?
Carbon buildup, or a "mushroom" head, can occur with any type of wick and wax. It is common in highly fragranced candles since the fragrance oil moves up the wick as it burns. It is necessary to remove the mushroom by trimming the wick before relighting.

How can I prevent excessive smoke when extinguishing the candle flame?
Blowing out the flame is not recommended, as it can cause excessive smoke and is dangerous. Using a wick snuffer is the best option to extinguish the flame gently.

Are your wicks made with lead?
No, we have never used lead wicks and it has been illegal for some time now. We prioritize the safety of our customers and would never use such materials in our products.

Do you ship on weekends?
We try to accommodate our customers by shipping on weekends, but we use our discretion depending on weather conditions. During hot temperatures and extreme heat, we limit shipping to earlier in the week to avoid candles sitting in hot trucks over the weekend. It's important for customers to plan accordingly and have someone available to accept deliveries, especially during the summer, to prevent candles from sitting on a hot porch for too long. Although we insure all shipments, melted wax is not covered by USPS, and other carriers during hot months. To avoid such problems, we suggest having deliveries sent to a place where someone will be present to receive them, or at least bringing them inside to a cool place as soon as possible. We also aim to ship early in the week to avoid packages being left in warehouses and trucks over the weekend.

Do you ship to PO boxes?
Yes, we can ship to PO boxes as long as there is room and the delivery is accepted.

What is the estimated shipping time for orders?
Shipping time varies depending on the time of year and shipping service, but we usually ship within a few days. During hot summer months, we may take a couple of extra days to ship to ensure that we can aim to ship earlier in the week, as mentioned earlier. Transit times range from one to two days to a week depending on location and carrier. Your order will include tracking information for you to monitor. However, during holiday seasons shipping delays are expected and common.

What if an item is defective or damaged upon arrival?
Our priority is customer satisfaction, so if your product is damaged upon arrival, please contact us through our "Contact Us" form on our website. Please keep the original packaging materials in case we need it returned. Visit our website for more information.

Can I return a candle if I don't like the fragrance?
Unfortunately, we generally do not accept exchanges based on personal fragrance preferences unless there is a defect in the candle. However, candles make great gifts, and someone else may enjoy the fragrance you don't. We include product description to help you make an informed decision. We are also planning to create a way to test sample fragrances in the future.

Can I refill or reuse my candle jars and containers?
We do not recommend refilling our jars for reuse as candles because glass weakens with use, accumulating bumps and scratches. However, our jars make great holders for various items around the house, such as buttons, nails, cotton balls, potpourri, seashells, and more. Most recycling agencies also accept empty candle jars with other glass jars.

Why do candles need to be discontinued when there is a half inch of wax remaining?
This is a safety issue as the glass can get hot on the bottom as the wick nears the base. It can cause cracking, breaking, or damage underneath the glass. We also recommend burning all candles on heat-resistant surfaces to prevent accidents.
